Meeting Tips

  1. Ask your friend, family member or acquaintance to meet with you to help you understand the Trump thing or why they are not motivated to vote against him. It could be over coffee, a meal or just a brief chat.
  2. Print out the TALK-TRUMP GUIDE to bring with you and use this website to learn more about Trump before the meeting.
  3. Go into the meeting with the thought of at least opening a dialogue that can be continued at another time but see how far you can get with it.
  4. Always keep it friendly!
  5. Ask a lot of questions. Let them talk. Ask them where they are getting their information from. Check out this excellent “Why Vote?” guide.
  6. Call out any misinformation you think they have and make note of it to follow up on later with properly sourced information.
  7. Let them know your fears and concerns. Let them know how you feel about how Trump tries to make your vote not count. Let them know how you feel about the threats of violence if he doesn’t win. Let them know how important American democracy is to you.
  8. Make a plan to talk again and do some follow up preparation.
  9. Keep the lines of communication open for any October surprises of misinformation that will need to be corrected.
  10. Let us know how it went!
